Blue Star Mother
I became a Blue Star Mother the moment my son joined the Air Force 3 years ago, any mom of an active duty or former service member is a Blue Star Mother. In June of 2010, I officially became a member of the organization in our local chapter. I love the camaraderie when we are all working to a cause such as shopping for Christmas care packages. It's fun picking out the toys for adults to play with and relieve their stress of being away from their families.
Two weeks ago, 4 moms took turns running Operation Boot Loot. Donations from this drive will fund projects like sending care packages to deployed troops throughout the year, Christmas party at the VA Domiciliary, educational assistance to veterans and families of Blue Star Mothers, via the Big Dipper Foundation. There is nothing more rewarding than to help others.
